What a reservation is

reservations = stay: client_id + property_id + optional unit_id (stall) + start_date + end_date. Driver for board charges.

• No reservation → no board charge.
• horses.unit_id = current stall; reservations.unit_id captures stall for that window.

Board charge calculation

For each night where current_date ∈ [start_date, end_date): apply property/unit board rate, sum per horse, split per client_horses.

Common operations

Early departure

Edit reservations.end_date earlier. If prepaid: credit or adjustment for unused nights. Per-night proration.

Extension

Extend end_date. New nights accrue at current rate.

Stall change mid-stay

Close current reservation at move date; open new with new unit_id.

Horse without stall

unit_id null (pasture board). Board rate = property default/pasture rate.
